Oct 12, 2012

My parents were with us for about 10 days, and left behind some great shots of Oliver, so I will be posting them over the next few days. We're doing great, busy with all bunch of new projects, and excited to go back to France for Christmas.

Dancing... sorta

Oliver loves dancing, I just can't get him to do it on video! The only time I was able to catch a glimpse of it is in this video but it is only for about one second in the very beginning...
The scarf? He dug that up from an old stash of silk scarves and other goodies we had brought back from Thailand and southeast Asia.

Sunglasses

Oliver hasn't learned how to wear sunglasses yet...
Here is his first try in the car on our way to our friend's son's birthday...

Playing

Sorry for the blog silence. Since we've been back from Colorado, we've returned to our "mundane" lives and are less inspired to share our adventures... About a week ago, we went to San Antonio to visit family and friends. Here is a picture of Oliver and his new friend playing in a homemade sandbox for the first time.

Last hike

As we get closer to the end of our time here in Colorado, we kept the more challenging hike for the end.

7 miles, 1,700 ft elevation gain to 12,100ft (3,700m), 4 lakes, awesome views of the Breckenridge valley.

We got lost toward the end and got to do some climbing to get to the top lake but it wasn't too bad after all. Oliver was probably the most tired of us as we had to skip his morning nap. The video at the end gives a little bit more perspective of the surroundings.
We are headed back toward the Texas heat tomorrow. I will sure miss this beautiful country...

Hanging out with friends in Frisco

A good friend of mine from Austin and her husband bought a house in Frisco just 15 min down the road from us. It's been nice to have them in the area so we could get our socializing fix.
They happen to like to play, so we got to go on a bike ride around the lake, play in the park (Ben was soar from throwing the frisbee) and another day we rented a boat on the lake. Oliver had a total blast on the boat.

Not so beginner

To find hikes in the area, we look online. We found one website particularly helpful for the summit county we're staying at. They classify the hikes by beginner, intermediate and advanced. After staying up a little bit later than the usual because some friends came to visit the night before, we thought, let's do an easy hike today! So we went to the website and found a "beginner" hike. It was only 1.7 miles one way...
To our little legs and lungs used to the rather flat trails of Texas, the Colorado standards were a bit of a surprise. That trail was about 1.5 miles uphill, which took us well over an hour.
After huffing and puffing, I ended up taking over Oliver's load up top of the mountain for a well deserved picnic with a view. We thought we were in pretty good shape, but after getting our hearts going on a few of these "beginners" trails, we now realize that perhaps we need to do a little bit more cardio... :)

Frisco, CO

Frisco, CO is a cute little town about 10miles from Breckenridge, sitting on a lake. Kind of cool to see sail boats at 9,000 ft (3,000m).
