Not so beginner

To find hikes in the area, we look online. We found one website particularly helpful for the summit county we're staying at. They classify the hikes by beginner, intermediate and advanced. After staying up a little bit later than the usual because some friends came to visit the night before, we thought, let's do an easy hike today! So we went to the website and found a "beginner" hike. It was only 1.7 miles one way...
To our little legs and lungs used to the rather flat trails of Texas, the Colorado standards were a bit of a surprise. That trail was about 1.5 miles uphill, which took us well over an hour.
After huffing and puffing, I ended up taking over Oliver's load up top of the mountain for a well deserved picnic with a view. We thought we were in pretty good shape, but after getting our hearts going on a few of these "beginners" trails, we now realize that perhaps we need to do a little bit more cardio... :)
