Blue Lakes Road

A few days ago, a little bit tired from all the hiking, we drove up this road called Blue Lakes Road, right up the road from the town we live in. We had no idea what to expect, we just liked the name of it.

Because it was early in the morning, quiet and still, animals were out and about. We hiked around the 2 lakes that were there and got see some kind of ferret, bunch of marmots, deer and mountain goats.

One year old!

Happy birthday! Joyeux Anniversaire Oliver! 

We had a nice French style dinner with the classic bottle of Champagne that has been present for each of month of Oliver's life.

I feel it was more of a celebration for us, as Oliver probably won't remember it. One year of being parents, seeing our little man growing, evolving and getting cuter every day. As tired as we are from middle of the night and early morning wake ups, every day for the past year, this is the most amazing experience we've been through. Seeing a human first time sitting, crawling, teething, walking, swimming, smiling, laughing, singing... One thing is sure is that it makes us think about our own parents and what they went through to raise us. Love you papa & maman, mom & dad.

 

 

 

Lunch at 12,000ft

Our first hike in the Breckenridge area, way above tree level, nice views overlooking an alpine lake. Always cool to go on a hike in the middle of the day for our lunch break!

Our Colorado home

We feel very fortunate to have found this place in Breckenridge, Colorado where will be spending the rest of the month. Our days are split between working and hiking in this beautiful area.

Oliver's first hike

Oliver had a pretty good time on his first hike. He didn't do much of the hiking but got to talk, sing and fall asleep on the way back. A profound experience for Ben who got emotional about carrying his sleeping baby... as well as very sore for this first uphill hike with a 25 pounder.

Enchanted Taos New Mexico

We stopped in Taos, New Mexico for 3 nights on our way to Colorado. We rented this really cool little casita, right outside of Taos. It was nice having our own space, we loved listening to the desert silence when Oliver was asleep.

Oliver is officially walking... Here is a snapshot in a hotel in Amarillo, TX half-way between Dallas and Taos.

Road Trip!

We just arrived in Colorado where we will be spending the rest of August away from the Texas heat.
We did a first stop in Dallas where we spent a few days hanging out at Amy's house and catching up with the cousins. Then we hit the road for good. First trip over 6 hours for Oliver. We were slightly worried as he really doesn't like to be stuck in the car seat. He did have some good times including here when he woke up from a nice morning nap with his favorite sssssssss sound.

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes love sweet Oliver but it doesn't seem to bother him a bit. He comes back covered with bites but doesn't itch and an hour later the bites are gone...
